![]() ![]() The bosses weren’t cut and pasted, they all felt like they had their own style of combat and that made each victory that much sweeter when I pulled their loot from their cold dead hands, tentacles or trans-etherial mist. There wasn’t one time I felt I was fighting the same type or same looking enemy from on chapter to the next. It might even have more, but for a long time D2 was the only game I had, so I played it a LOT.A noticeable and welcome improvement Torchlight II has over the original is that the enemies and bosses are greatly varied. Add to that the ability to marginally customize the sprites looks, pet, and name and I honestly feel that it has more replayability than D3, and about the same amount as D2. ![]() ![]() I recommend doing all the side quests as there are some fun easter eggs to be found (Goonies may never say it, but they apparently DO die).įrom what I have seen, there are a lot of different, effective specs for each class. T2 has the same thin veneer of a reason why you go from one main quest to the other, with various unrelated side quests popping up. I never much cared about Diablo's storyline (really it's not that good, and D3's is IMO the worst of the bunch) as it's a thin excuse for dungeon crawling and loot. The graphics are simpler and brighter than D3, but not as cartoony and childish as the first Torchlight. It also keeps the fishing from T1 and the bit where feeding fish to your pet temporarily morphs it into a different creature with various abilities. T2 has limited town portals and retains identify scrolls, which can be a pain, but the addition of the pet and it's ability to sell things for you is awesome. T2 also keeps the ability to adjust your stats rather than a set track. That means only the last three points can be changed (for a fee). T2 almost entirely removes the tree aspect of skills (there's still skills you can't activate until a certain level, but there are no prerequisite skills), but the unmodded game has a rolling respec. I liked the respec ability in D3, but not having to go through the set pattern of which skill is learned first. I just got this game, and I feel it is better as a gameplay successor to D2 than D3 was. There are very strange Multiplayer lag spikes/latency that Runic Games fail to address, believing it must be the player's internet connection, amount other things at fault. TL2 has so many different armour sets and stats that you might want to keep a few things, but your bank will be full in no time. The ranged classes have little to no survivability and very hard to play with in Hardcore-Elite. ![]() (Excluding bank mules)Īlso, it's very annoying that you can't fully re-class and that the class balancing is quite un-even. You may suffer from a serious case of Altitis. It's one of those type of games where it has the danger of becoming repetitive depending on what you like to do in games. Īlthough, Torchlight basically has no storyline (it is there, just not very. Your portals will also still be there! To refresh everything you can 're-roll' a level by going to Multiplayer and quickly creating a new room and clicking the 're-roll' check. When you play through a level it will stay that way, meaning you can go through them to look for loot you might've not picked up, and there will be no mobs about. every player sees their own loot client-side so you don't have to worry about people being greedy?! Why isn't my friend picking up any loot? He has been? What do you mean? Oh. What do you mean the skills 'aren't like skill trees?' Whoah, I can take any skill I want as long as I have the level to take it?! You mean I don't need to take that skill before it to 'un-lock it?' How nice! but wait, they can also run back to the shops to sell what's in their bags while you are still adventuring! That is neat! Your pet can pick up items if your own bags are full. It is the single most convenient game that I have ever played. I have not played a Diablo game or the first Torchlight, here are my thoughts Please use flair to display what games you’re currently playing, not a punch line, username, tag, URL, or signature.
